0% balance transfers – what are they?
Balance transfer deals, what are they I here you ask! They are here to save us money and using one will be a great advantage to you. If you are not sure how they work read on and I will explain,
A balance transfer is when you move your balance from your existing card to another card that is giving you a better APR. A lot of companies are jumping on the bandwagon with this deal they will offer you 0% interest for a period of time, it could be 6 to 9 months or even up to a year. A typical example is say the card you had was charging you a an APR of 27.9% and your balance is £2000, your monthly payment would be £300 you will not have cleared your balance after a 6 months period, in fact you would have paid £494 in interest and you would still owe £694. If you could have put this amount into a balance transfer deal then the amount due at the end of the six months would be £200, saving you £494 how good is that!
Choose the card that suits you… (more…)

Make Life A Little Easier: Setting A Budget And Sticking With It
Wednesday, September 12th, 2007
 |
Where does the idea of sitting down a coming up with a personal budget rank on your list of “things I can’t wait to do”? If you’re like most people, it’s probably somewhere between jabbing a fork in your ear and getting a root canal. Can’t say we blame you, devising a budget for yourself is definitely not the most stimulating activity in the world. |
But for financial well-being, it’s an absolute must. It needn’t be too painful though. With today’s technology, budget-making is pretty much a snap. Just remember, the goal of creating a personal budget is threefold: 1) to list your expenses, 2) to set future goals, and 3) to cut costs to meet your goals.
Where does your money go?
The first part is always the hardest when it comes to starting a budget. You need to find out where your money is going on a monthly basis. You could dig into bank statements, credit card receipts and check ledgers, then hand write every expense you come across on a sheet of paper. That’s one way to go. The other, simpler way is to use the amazingly intuitive personal finance software that’s available today.
Programs like Quicken and Microsoft Money were built to help you track your budget. Simply input your expenditures, divide them into categories (e.g., auto, food, clothing) and subcategories (e.g., fuel, dining out, shoes) and boom—the program will spit out a detailed report of your monthly income and expenditures. 5 Fearless Interviewing Tips
Tuesday, September 11th, 2007
 |
After years of studying and being a low-wage working student, freshly minted graduates are entering a robust job market. Employers plan to hire nearly 20% more new college graduates in 2006-2007 than they did in 2005-2006, based on the Job Outlook 2007 Spring Update, produced by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). The survey found that nearly 60 percent of employers said they plan to hire more new college graduates in 2006-07 than they did in 2005-06.
|
In today’s fiercely competitive business world, graduates must learn the principles of business etiquette to sharpen their professionalism, corporate image, and savvy to outclass the competition. Graduates have to walk in the door poised, polished, and prepared to make a great first impression!
Most people have “butterflies in the stomach” when meeting interviewers. Fear is a natural emotion but don’t let it paralyze or prevent you from landing your dream job.
You are granted an interview because the employer believes you are a good match for the position and want to determine if you are qualified, motivated, and compatible with the company’s culture.
Within 5 seconds of meeting you, an interviewer will form an impression and decide if they will not hire you. You will be judged on your professional image, attitude, personality, speech, nonverbal communication, and social skills (e.g., posture, smile, eye contact, and demeanor). (more…)

Online Signature Loan
Monday, September 10th, 2007
 |
New ways of borrowing are now available due to the dynamics of loan borrowing procedures. Online signature loans do not fit in the traditional forms of loan borrowing, which require collateral security as the guarantee of the loan borrowed. Signature loans are extended entirely on the acknowledgment of a signed activation letter. Therefore, there is no need of a co-signer or collateral for it.
|
Online signature loans are given on the basis of signature alone without a need of pledging a home or any other asset. The rates of interest on online signature loans fluctuate to a great extent depending on the personal credit of the loan applicant.
Signature loans can be used to fund student college loans, home remodeling, debt consolidation, etc. Lenders can offer a very high loan amount if circumstances are in favor of the requirements. The borrower’s ability to repay also has a considerable effect on the amount of loan. Online signature loans are an excellent aid for the purpose of education and for financial funding to meet the ever-increasing cost of education. (more…)

How To Win Lots Of Scholarship Money
Friday, September 7th, 2007
 |
Want to Win a Lot of Scholarship Money? Beginning in junior high/middle school is a great time to start. I’m serious. A winning scholarship effort always requires a plan. And assembling a plan of action requires time.
After one of my talks a happy couple asked me “Why do you think starting in the 8th grade is the best time?” Before I could answer they said, “We are telling our children in the fifth grade to start working on winning scholarship contests and any other contests that we find out about.” |
They Got Results! Before they left I discovered their first child had already graduated from college with 50% paid by scholarships only because they got a late start; or it would have been 100%. They weren’t going to make the same mistake with their other student. I asked them what they thought was the hardest part of a search. Their answer surprised me. “NOTHING! There’s just a lot to think about. We really didn’t have a plan then. Now we do. And now that we have heard your College Scholarship Plan we’re going to eliminate some things and add others. We’re glad we came to your seminar” (more…)

College Education Financing - Finding Scholarships, Grants and Loans
Thursday, September 6th, 2007
 |
There are several sources of financial aid available for college students. Grants and scholarships are best because the money is generally tax-free and never has to be repaid. Although this sounds promising, obtaining scholarships for college can be challenging. Prospective college students seeking scholarships should conduct research on scholarships available from local businesses, non-profit organizations and foundations, as well as options available from the U.S. government. |
Local Businesses
First and foremost, exploring your direct location and surrounding areas would be a good place to start as finding funding and aid in and around your local area is more likely than applying further away or even abroad. Local contacts, businesses, individuals and institutions will typically be your first point of call. It is easier to gain access to and the competition pool is that much smaller. So, in a sense, you are stacking the odds in your favor, making the most of what your local hometown and area has to offer.
Non-profit Organizations and Foundations
Most non-profit organizations and foundations have scholarships for prospective college students. Following are some examples of where scholarship sourcing might come from: (more…)

Student Loan Consolidation - How To Make A Wise Decision
Wednesday, September 5th, 2007
 |
Debt consolidation feels like instant freedom. When you can not easily manage your debt, bundling it all up seems like a good idea. The most common way to do this is a debt consolidation loan. This loan takes all of your debts and wraps them into one loan.
Don’t confuse it with bankruptcy, though. You still have to pay this money back. You are simply refinancing the money that you have borrowed. |
Before you do this, you should know both sides of the story.
On The Good Side
Manage your money much easier with just 1 bill to pay each month. Gone is the anxiety as each bill comes in, like a Chinese water torture. Instead of incomprensible statements from credit cards, gas cards, student loans, and car loans, it can seem a blessing to get them down into one payment. (more…)

Are Student Loans Better Than Credit Cards?
Tuesday, September 4th, 2007
 |
When applying for student loans, it’s so important for prospective college students to calculate their finances as best they can to receive the appropriate funding. From tuition and books to room and board, living expenses and food, students should make sure to secure the funds they actually will need to get them through each semester at college. |
By applying for the correct amount, students won’t find themselves in a bind or get themselves into a credit card nightmare.
Way too many college students these days get into big trouble with credit cards. It’s unfortunate that students too inexperienced to know better receive enticing credit card offers in the mail. Usually when a credit card offer looms over a student, it’s like dangling a carrot in front of a rabbit. The student grabs the credit card offer without thinking ahead. Credit cards oftentimes appear to be a quick fix or a type of “free money,” and they then become the remedy students think they need.
Student Loans versus Credit Cards
If anything, it’s the opposite. Like student loans, credit card debt must be paid back. There’s a huge difference though. Student loans usually are taken out with fixed interest rates, depending on the type of loan and a students’ credit rating, amount of loan, repayment terms, etc. (more…)
